CCTV footage showing a gunman arriving in a car and shooting at a moving three-wheeler in the Halpethota area of Beddagama has been released.
The footage shows the gunman getting out of the car after arriving at the location and opening fire at the three-wheeler travelling along the road.
Police have confirmed that two people who sustained serious injuries in the shooting died after being admitted to hospital.
Several women were also injured in the shooting and admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police have launched further investigations to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.
