The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) says adverse weather conditions have affected 104 Divisional Secretariat divisions across 15 districts.
According to the DMC, between the 19th and 6.00 a.m. today (27), a total of 3,495 people belonging to 943 families have been affected by the adverse weather conditions in these areas.
The situation has also resulted in three deaths and five injuries, while one person has been reported missing.
The DMC further reported two completely damaged houses and 448 partially damaged houses due to the adverse weather.
Meanwhile, 124 people belonging to 36 families are currently staying at five safety centres, according to the DMC.
Kandy District has recorded the highest number of people affected by the heavy rainfall, with 782 people reported to have been affected.
The DMC report also indicates that 688 people have been affected in Ratnapura, 473 in Gampaha, 383 in Matara, 310 in Puttalam and 224 in Kegalle.
