US President Donald Trump has proposed using the term “Super Intelligence” (SI) instead of “Artificial Intelligence” (AI).
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Trump said the word “artificial” makes the technology sound fake. He said US government documents would henceforth use the term “Super Intelligence” instead of “Artificial Intelligence.”
Trump also expressed hope that the term would eventually be adopted around the world.
Earlier, Trump had asked his followers on Truth Social to suggest new names for AI. Among the names proposed were “Superior Intelligence,” “Extreme Intelligence” and “Supreme Intelligence.”
However, technology experts note that “superintelligence” already has a specific meaning in the technology field. The term generally refers to a hypothetical form of AI that would surpass human intellectual capabilities across a broad range of areas.
