Fifteen defendants convicted over the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks have been sentenced to between 200 and 260 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar.
Five of the convicts were sentenced to 200 years each, another five to 220 years each, four to 240 years each, and one convict to 260 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court also ordered the confiscation of all movable and immovable property belonging to the 15 convicted defendants.
The case was heard against 24 defendants, including Naufar Moulavi, over more than 23,270 charges related to the Easter Sunday attacks, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting. The court found 15 defendants guilty and acquitted and released the remaining nine.
The verdict was delivered by a three-member High Court bench comprising Justices Navaratne Marasinghe, Ramanathan Kannan and Sujeewa Nishshanka.
